Romney in Orange City says new jobs report is ?simply unimaginable?

Orange City, IA. ? After Iowa?s governor welcomed him to ?God?s country,? presidential candidate Mitt Romney told about 3,000 Iowans ?we are killing the American dream for our children.

?It?s wrong. It will stop if I?m president of the United States,? Romney said during a campaign rally this morning in deeply conservative northwest Iowa, his sixth visit to here this year.

Romney said he didn?t watch President Barack Obama?s official nomination acceptance speech Thursday night, but ?read that this morning.?

?Perhaps like me you found it extraordinarily disappointing. Surprisingly disappointing,? Romney said. ?Because his speech for years ago he laid out a whole series of lofty goals. Unfortunately, he wasn?t able to meet them.?

Romney said Obama failed to raise incomes, that business startups are at a 30-year low and that unemployment is still a dismal 8.1 percent.

?Did you see the jobs report this morning??

Yes!? a few people said.

?95,000, I believe, net new jobs created,? Romney said. ?And almost 400,000 people dropped out of the workforce altogether. It?s just simply unimaginable. The president said that by this time we?d be at 5.4 percent unemployment. Instead we?re at about 8 percent.

?You know the difference that that makes in how many people would be working in America? Nine million popele. Had he been able to keep his promise, had his policies worked as he thought he would, there?d be 9 million more Americans working. If that had been the case, we?d have a lot better budget setting, and we?d have a lot better family life in this country where people are struggling to make ends meet. We wouldn?t have as many kids wondering when they get home at night if mom and dad will be there because with two jobs trying to make ends meet they can?t be there.?

Romney said he has a plan to create 12 million new jobs.
